Competition entries

In the words of my Judge, the lovely Allycat:

This was very hard but very fun to judge. All of the entries were excellent and I wish they could all be placed. As it was, I had to include an extra one for a third place tie. All of the entries depicted scenes and caracters from less obvious parts of the story. I really enjoyed this aspect of the competition. I was very priveleged to get this opportunity and greatly appreciate it. Well done to everyone and congratulations to the winners.

FIRST PLACE - Watching the Fyreflits by Nepenthe

A peaceful romantic scene beautifully rendered by DarkNepenthe . This art work wins because it is an actual scene with strong character reference. A lot of effort has been made and it is obvious that DarkNepenthe has read and enjoyed the story. Most importantly the characters are strongly reflective of Lemurkat's writing and are obviously wrapped up in the beauty and romance of the moment, just as they are in the story.

SECOND PLACE - Crossing the Styx by Ravynwolf.

This piece has the dreamy feel of the Rainbowlands with the soft background and melancholy clouds. The boat is beautifully drawn as it is written and the waves can almost be heard to be sloshing onto the bank. The Grimalkyn is irresistible and I love the stance it takes at the front of the boat as it expects Kat to follow more promptly. Kat is a little different to many other drawings of her as she has a more lion snout than the traditional Lemurkat. However, she is once again beautifully drawn. This is definitely one of my favourite scenes and brilliantly brought to life by Ravynwolf. Excellent work.

THIRD PLACE TIE - Titus by Neshiu and The Nocturne (minus 1) by Shi

Both of these do not have exact scenes but I could not use that as a reason for not winning. They both capture the chosen characters brilliantly.

Neshiu's Titus is exactly as you would imagine him if you happened to chance upon him by the banks of a stream. The pose and mischievous look is perfectly Titus. He looks as if he is about to chat you up- and probably is.

The Nocturne is a similar character portrayal. I can't help it and have to say this art work is just really cool. I don't care how un-arty that sounds because that is what comes into my head. Dario is a particular favourite as this vision of him is at the same time not what I imagined but fits perfectly with the story. Once again, it is obvious Shi has read the story and made a great effort to bring it to life through her art.

Special thanks to everyone else who entered - all of your pictures were awesome, which made our job very hard indeed! Here's those that didn't quite make it, but are rather awesome, none-the-less!
